Spotlight on Speke’s Camp, Maasai Mara

The family-operated Speke's Camp came into existence in 2010. Rather than modern luxury, Speke's prides itself on being a classic safari camp without fences, emphasising genuine experiences. The camp offers a distinctive, individualised visit. All structures are constructed from canvas and decorated with driftwood, animal bones, traditional African textiles, and local ornaments.

The shared spaces are stocked with an extensive collection of books that cover the indigenous wildlife, the history of Kenya, and the various cultures within the region. The eclectic mix of cosy sofas, wooden pieces, and Persian rugs creates a homely, rustic ambiance.

For connectivity needs, there's a dedicated tent embellished with Zanzibari-style bedding, armchairs, and sofas where guests can access Wi-Fi.

Staying at Speke's gives you the impression of being at one of the Maasai Mara's remaining authentic Safari camps.

Safari’s & Trails

Safari excursions are crafted to offer our guests a dual-experience adventure within a single trip. You’ll start with the thrill of game viewing from the comfort of a vehicle before transitioning to what is fondly referred to as 'slow travel' on foot.

It's an opportunity to explore the less-traveled paths, uncovering secret nooks of the landscape and thrilling spots away from the typical tourist trails – no lines, no admission fees, just you immersed in the African wilderness. The local guides are passionate about sharing their heritage and knowledge, teaching you to interpret the land, and recounting ancestral tales.

Walking through the Kenyan bush is an experience that is almost beyond words. Considering Kenya is the cradle of ancient human history, with remains dating back 7 million years, it's nearly impossible not to feel a deep connection with the land and its past.
